About
What is an industrial art?
In this case, the industrial art is the film/movie/motion picture industry. The products of this industry are meant to entertain (and, often, they actually do), and sometimes they’re even meant to pass as art (and, on occasion, they actually do). But despite those intentions, they are nonetheless products of an industry. Just as auto manufacturing plants produce cars to sell, studios produce visual experiences to sell. When it comes right down to it, “it’s strictly business.”
And yet, entertainment and art continue to thrive.
So what?
This blog is intended to explore the industry as both an outlet for products and a font of art. It will showcase movie reviews, essays about theory, and observations and reports on anything from upcoming projects to box office results. It will continually explore motion pictures to their fullest while supporting the underlying theory that in order to be a successful product of this industrial art there must be a little bit of each: a little industry and a little art.
